Key Lab for Special Functional Materials of Ministry of Education,


The laboratory and center was established in 1986, and was promoted to be Key Disciplines Open Laboratory in Henan Province in 1998. It has become the Key Laboratory of Henan Province, the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education, Henan Engineering Technology Research Center, the Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of education, the International Joint Laboratory of Henan Province, the National Key Laboratory Base of Universities in Henan Province, Coordinated Innovation Center of Nanoscale Functional Materials and Application in Henan Province, Henan Engineering Laboratory, the National Key Reserve Laboratory in Henan Province. Currently, the total values of equipment are over 70 million RMB. The laboratory has research faculties around 50,  including one ZhongYuan Scholar, two National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars, one Thousand Youth Talents Scholar, four distinguished professors of Henan Province and six distinguished professors of Henan University. The team has become the Innovative Research Team of the Ministry of Education.

We are mainly engaging in the fundamental and applied research of nano-materials and devices in the future optoelectronic information and energy and other fields. It aims at cultivating high-end talents and providing the original innovation for the development of the national and regional economic development. We are also developing a next-generation of display and lighting technology based on quantum-dot luminescence display materials and devices (QLED). It aims at building up the core technologies to support the optoelectronic information industry in Henan and the whole country, especially the high-efficiency display and lighting industry, and promoting the development of strategic emerging industries.

Based on the rapid development of optoelectronic information, new materials and new energy industry in the central and western regions of China, the laboratory has carried out the basic research on the design and construction of nanostructured materials and the photoelectric transfer characteristics of surface/interface, as well as the photoelectric nano-devices, quantum dots luminescence display and high efficiency thin-film photovoltaic devices. Specifically, some of the key indicators for blue-light QLED and nano-devices are at the leading level in the world. This lab has been awarded over 60 national foundations including the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China, the National Key Basic Research Development Plan, The National Natural Science Foundation of China (Key Program), and Innovative Research Team of the Ministry of Education, and over 100 provincial/industrial projects were undertaken or completed. More than 600 SCI papers were published on academic journals includingNano Lett.,Adv. Mater.,J. Am. Chem. Soc., ACS Nano, Adv. Energy Mater., Adv. Funct. Mater., Appl. Phys. Lett.etc. More than 40 national invention patents have been acquired and transformations of some patents in industrial applications have been achieved.
