On the afternoon of January 30, 2018, by the invitation of the key laboratory for special functional materials of MOE, the National Distinguished Young Scholar, Changjiang Scholar, Professor Mu Wang from Nanjing University visited our laboratory for academic exchanges and made an academic report entitled "APS Journals: Inside Stories from the Editorial Office". The report was presided over by executive deputy director Zuliang Du, and some teachers and students of our laboratory attended the meeting.
Professor Mu Wang introduced the origin and development history of APS, pointed out the author's notices in the delivery of the paper, put forward the proposal of paper writing, and introduced the process of publication. After the lecture, Professor Mu Wang held a heated discussion with the teachers and students and answered the questions in detail. We will have a further understanding of the notes and directions of delivery papers in future through this report.
Mu Wang: Mu Wang received his Ph.D. in 1991 at Nanjing University, and went on to work as a postdoctoral researcher at Nijmegen University, Netherlands. He received the Chien-Shiung Wu Physics Award from the Chinese Physical Society in 1992 and the Distinguished Young Scholar Fund from the NSF of China in 1994. He was honored in 2007 with the National Award for Natural Sciences by the Chinese State Department. Mu is a fellow of the IOP (UK) and the APS. His research interests focus on interfacial growth mechanisms, self-organization in crystallization, plasmonics and metamaterials. Prior to joining APS in 2014 as Associate Editor for PRL, he was the Cheung-Kong Professor in condensed matter physics at Nanjing University and the Director of National Laboratory of Solid State Microstructures. He served as a Consulting Editor to PRX before serving as Editor of PRMaterials. He is also the outreach coordinator for the APS journals in China.
