Reporter: Qunwei TANG (Ocean University of China)

Location: seminar room, 2nd floor of Key Laboratory for Special Functional Materials of Ministry of Education

Born in 1980, Qunwei Tang received his bachelor's degree from Shandong University in 2004 and a doctorate from Huaqiao University in 2009, his postdoctoral work was carried out at University of Strasbourg in France and the University of South Carolina in the United States. Qunwei Tang now is professor and doctoral supervisor and the first level special professor of “talent project” at Ocean University of China. Prof. Tang mainly focuses on the study of the key materials and technologies of dye-sensitized solar cells and all-weather solar cells. He ranks fifty-sixth in the field of global dye sensitized solar cells (including ranking third in the field of counter electrodes, sixth in the field of photo anode, tenth for the subject of gel electrolyte). In the last five years, Prof. Tang has published 133 academic papers as the first or the communication authors in the journals such as Angew Chem Int Ed (IF:11.709, 5 papers), Nano Energy (IF: 11.553, 2 papers), Adv Mater (IF: 18.960) and ACS (IF: 13.334), among which 86 papers ranking in the first level of the Chinese Academy of Science. His papers have been cited for nearly 2600 times, the H-index is 32, and 20 papers were selected as highly cited papers (top 1%) and hot papers (top 0.1%) of ESI. Prof. Tang was selected as the top 1% highly cited author of the Royal Society of Chemistry and has applied for /been authorized 16 national invention patents. Prof. Tang won one first class and one second class prize of Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Award as the first accomplisher. He has undertaken a number of key projects of provincial and national level, including that of the National Key Laboratory of Marine Science and Technology in Qingdao and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Prof. Tang first successfully developed all-weather solar cell and the research results have been reported by many influential media and institutions such as IEEE Spectrum, Chemistry Word, Xinhua News Agency, Science and Technology Daily and the Ministry of Science and Technology, which were translated into German, French, British, Japanese, Latin and other languages. The developed solar cells, which can be generated in the rain days, is selected as one of the ten largest photovoltaic frontiers in 2016, and is hailed as the "next generation solar cells" by the International Financial Times.
