Obtaining one dimensional (1D) nanostructures & nanomaterials (NSNM) with purposeful unit is of important before fabrication of nanodevices (ND). Construction of complex NSNM (such as milti-elemental products and hierarchical structures), particularly for controlled synthesis and characterization of quantum effect are still challenges although many NSNMs of simple substance and compound have been made up to now. The group is mainly focused on the controllable fabrication of small sizes nanowires/tubes/ribbons/hierarchical structures as well as optical, electronic, magnetic, superconducting, and thermoelectric properties. We are committed to realizing this intellectual vision through studies currently focused on five major areas: (1) synthesis and characterization of novel 1D NSNM and hierarchical organization by free-catalyst, self-catalyzed, the conventional vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) with transition metal catalyst, and vapor-solid (VS) mechanism for the former, as well as photoluminescence, electronic, magnetic transport for physical properties; (2) Ultrasonic chemical synthesis of large-scale crystal 1D NSNMs and elucidation of fundamental physical properties of the nanoscale building blocks such as photo electronic studies; (3) confined fabrication of 1D NSNMs by using anodic alumina membrane or polymer template and their optical or electronic characters; (4) design and demonstration of doped functional 1D NSNM and hierarchical organization, as well as research on their photo, electric, magnetic, or superconductivity phenomena; (5) exploration of the interface/communication between biological systems and nanosdevices. |
